Out of Juice: Does Vape Juice Expire?

Doesn't it suck when you run out of your favorite vape juice and have to wait until your next order comes in? It's not as bad if you have another juice bottle laying around, but you want to make sure it's in good condition before you vape it.

It is possible for vape juice to go bad.

This can happen when someone doesn't take proper care of the bottle, but it might also be because the juice has passed its expiration date. If you've never thought to ask yourself, "does vape juice expire?", here are three things you can do to make sure all your juices are good to vape.

1. Read the Label

Finding the expiration date on a bottle of e-juice is as simple as finding it on anything you'd pick up at the grocery store. Different manufacturers label it different or put it on a unique part of a bottle and its packaging. But, the information is there.

Look for something that says "expired by", "use by", or "best before."

The interesting thing about these labels, though, is that you do have a window of time when an e-liquid is still good to use. The main downside is the quality won't be the same as it was before the expiration date.

There isn't any harm in using a juice that is one week or even two weeks over the expiration date. Use your discretion when deciding what to keep and use and what's better to throw away.

2. Maintain the Quality of the Juice

Sometimes, the quality of a juice has less to do with the expiration date and more with how well you're taking care of it. It can be easy to forget about certain e-juice bottles when you discover a new flavor and stick to that until it's gone.

But, a few simple maintenance tips can help you preserve your juice - and by default, save money. They are:

  • always avoid direct sunlight and store bottles in a cool, dry place
  • don't put e-juice in the fridge
  • if you transport your e-juice to a different container, make note of the expiration

Some people think it's a brilliant idea to put their e-juice in the fridge, but it can actually mess up the flavors. Others like the thought of mixing different juices together to create their own flavors, but you have to know what each one's expiration date is if you're going to do that.

3. Dispose of an Unused Juice

Here's one more thing to consider: the shelf life of most e-juices ranges between 1-2 years. If you have a bottle that's been sitting around that long and has expired, it's best to throw it away.

Not because it's harmful to you, either. Remember, most expiration dates are suggestions rather than orders. If you've had an e-juice for so long and you haven't finished it, you probably don't like it!

There's no sense in vaping bad juice. That would be like sitting through a horrible movie or finishing a boring book. You deserve to enjoy the best juice, even if that means purchasing a few not-so-great ones from time to time.

Does Vape Juice Expire: Yes or No?

The bottom line is that yes, vape juice can expire if it's way past the expiration date provided by the manufacturer. But, if you have to ask yourself "does vape juice expire?" in the first place, you need to find new e-juices that you actually enjoy!
